Watercolor Sketches Just for Fun

Things have been scattered here at home, so much to do, and trying to work in a bit of art here and there.

These fun little watercolor sketches are done in a cheap sketch diary from Walmart.

I keep longing for the day when I can go out in my room and paint all day long! Hopefully that will be in just a few more weeks.

Blessings,
Lana

30 Paintings in 30 Days - Day 15

Day 15 of Leslie Saeta's challenge, although I didn't join in until day 12 this time. The subject is simple, red beebalm (monarda) in antique silver pitcher.

I wonder what I'll find to paint for tomorrow's challenge?

30 Paintings in 30 Days - Day 14

I'm still playing around with pen and ink and watercolor washes... just simple subjects... trying different papers. I don't like this paper as much as I like the Strathmore brand. I'll be glad to make the switch back in a couple of days. The water colors I have been using are by Sakura. It's a compact Koi® Water Color Field Sketch Travel Kit and is perfect for small spaces and on the go projects!

Come back tomorrow to see day #15 challenge!

30 Paintings in 30 Days - Day 13

As I mentioned yesterday, I joined Leslie Saeta's 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge a little late... 12 days late. However, I had been painting this month already and will share one of those with you today.

watercolor and ink on stained 140 lb. Strathmore cold press watercolor paper

I've been practicing simple watercolor sketches... or maybe I should call them pen and ink sketches with watercolor washes. I'd like to do a series of these to present at the Lavender Festival this summer.

This means my acrylic painting has been out on hold for a while and if you are interested in purchasing past works at a discount, you can do so by visiting my Lana Manis Designs Etsy shop. Be sure to use this code during checkout for 50% off everything in the shop:

Back Again!

Even though I'm about 12 days behind, I decided to jump in on Leslie Saeta's 30 Paintings in 30 Days challenge.

I recently picked up my paint and pens after a break from painting and it's so good to be back! :)

Some of these watercolors will be for sale, I just haven't had time to get them listed. New works will be listed on this blog. If interested in new art shown here, email me: lanamanis (at) gmail (dot) com.

I Just Had To...

Honeysuckle Lane: I Just Had To...: Late last night I had this urge to do a little watercolor. So, near midnight, I was out in my workroom, going through stacks of art pads ...

Very Last Minute Gift Ideas

If you're like me, you find yourself just a few days before Christmas or a birthday and you realize you forgot someone... then you run to the nearest big box store and grab something off the shelf... not very imaginative or thoughtful, is it?

So... why not buy something from an artist? Even if it's a more affordable print, it's still something you are not going to find on every shelf in every town, unless the artist has gone "big time" and has licensed their art... which would be a dream come true for many of us! ;)

I'm posting some favorites of my own art, and yes, I would hang these in my home. As a matter of fact, I am having some of my matted prints picked up for me today so I can hang them this week! And the best thing? I am getting 3 prints professionally matted for around $20!!!

If you like colorful, whimsical art, please visit my shop. All art prints are currently 50% off (no coupon needed) and even the originals are very affordable!

Merry Christmas!!!
